Community Meeting – Walkability in ‘greater’ Snug – 25 February 2023

The Menzies Insitute, UTas together with some local citizen scientists have completed a study into the ‘walkability’ of our beautiful area and found some glaring problems that, if addressed, could significantly improve our amenity and safety.

We encourage you to attend a Community Meeting at the Snug Primary School Hall (under the clock tower) at 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday 25th February 2023 to discuss approaches to improving walkability in the ‘greater’ Snug area.

ELECTRICKHANA

CALSCA partnered with Net Zero Channel (NZC), the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) and the Good Car Company (GCC) to run an ‘Electrikana’ – an Electric Vehicle Fair – in August 2022 at Snug Park.

The event was wildly successful with over 450 people attending, There were 40 electric cars available for people to have a close look at and ride in. Over 300 rides were provided by the volunteer EV owners!

NET ZERO CHANNEL

CALSCA is partnering with the Kettering Community Association (KCA) on a project to reduce the carbon footprint of Channel communities including Kettering, Woodbridge and ‘greater’ Snug [ie Coningham, Electrona, Lower Snug and Snug].

CLEAN UP – 6 March 2022

Please join us at Coningham Beach car park just prior to 10am on Sunday, 6 March 2022 for a Clean Up Australia event in and around Coningham and Lower Snug. Arrive approximately 15 minutes before that time to register and to be allocated bags, gloves and area to clean. Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear.

As with our events in September 2020 and March 2021, we will split up into small groups and focus attention on specific areas such as: Coningham Beach (and surrounding area). If you are aware any areas that could do with a clean up, please let us know. We will be coordinating our clean up efforts with those being undertaken by Snug Landcare.

Clean Up Day – 7 March 2021

14 adults from CALSCA and Snug Landcare and a number of children (I lost count) participated in a Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday 7 March 2021. It was great to do a joint activity with Snug Landcare as these benefit us all in the greater Snug community. Areas in Coningham and Snug were cleaned resulting in approximately 40kg of rubbish and recyclables being taken to the tip. Volunteers (and kids) then enjoyed a BBQ. We will, unfortunately, need to do further clean ups. But we will avoid public holiday weekends! Perhaps again in October or November?
